I graduated from the Sculpture department of the Glasgow School of Art in 2006. During this time I experimented with using digital media both as a tool and sculpturally. Following my degree I briefly worked in Floristry. It was quite an extreme contrast to move from using wiring and very modern technology to working with natural materials and basic manual tools. This contrast is something that really appeals to me; in fact one of the major themes I explore is that of the relationship between nature and manufacture.

These Drawings and Paintings are part of an ongoing investigation. I use both material and subject matter as my inspiration for these two dimensional works; using wallpaper and textile patterns, and those found on the insides of envelopes. I work with ways of depicting nature, manipulating and altering the shapes of plants, flowers and fusing them with more geometric forms inspired by electrical circuits.

Ten of these works were shown at the Britannia in Lancaster through the month of November in 2007 for my solo exhibition, 'Plants and Wires'.

Alongside working on the 'Plants and Wires' style pieces, i have been making works with more of a design based style.

These drawings are largely bright coloured with geometric designs, and incorporating patterns from the insides of envelopes. Electronic, techno music and 80's computer games have been an influence.

Music by the Glasgow electronic musician 'DJ Theory Test' has been a big influence and i was delighted to design artwork for his latest album release 'Subterfuge', released January 2008.

You can download the album and artwork here.
