Each mix has been put through environmental and technological degeneration resulting in changes to the sound's quality and form.

The way in which i have digitally degenerated the audio is through recording and compressing and converting file types. This is something that unlike tape's durational lossy process is instead something which can turn around the quality and shape of the sound quite rapidly.

Another process is that of the locational and ambient sounds gathered in each room that i have recorded in such as the shutting of the window, a sniff, the school nearby my flat, the market outside my boyfriend's window. Such noises became as much about the transformation as the degenerative process, although originally accidental.

The locations were selected in order of the amount of time i spend listening to music in each.

The Playlist was constructed from pieces by a selection of musicians i was particularly interested in through the development of this project.

A lot of the music i had been listening to at that time was using ambient sounds as part of the music itself, a lo-fi quality or attitude from the musicians, an emphasis on beat, and musical loops, were elements which have really influenced the way i work with video.

My friends, either with the music they make, and/or, the music they have got me into have been a big part of the way things have developed.
